Should We Take More Than One Driving Test?
I have often wondered why we are not required to take more than one driving test in our lifetime. We are able to study for our learners permit at the age of fifteen or sixteen and then we are able to take the driving test at the age of sixteen and get our license if we pass. We are able to auto insurance on our cars but never have to take another driving test again for the rest of our lives. Why is that? Would it be because everyone feels the longer you drive the more experience you gain? What if you are a particular driver with bad habits? Who is the person that is supposed to tell you this other than every person that gets in the car with you? You still have your license.
You may be the one that does speed but never gets caught. You might be the driver that stops short on a red light and jumps start with the green light and cuts people off when heading for an exit. Even though you do not get tickets and barely get away without accidents, does this make you a good driver? As we get older we tend to fall into patterns and continue them. It is the same with auto insurance policies. If we never compare the rates then we stay with the same policy whether it is high in cost or just right.
Unless, someone takes you by the hand and says I will bet you ten dollars you could not pass a normal driving test today and they take you up on it there is no way to make that person take another driving test. The Department of Motor Vehicles makes us come in to take a vision test and checks the box if we need glasses. They may want to consider having drivers take a driving test every ten years. Otherwise the auto insurance companies continue to maintain statistics that show the ages where accidents are high and when they are low to help determine premiums. Keep an eye on your policy and conduct free auto insurance comparisons when you think your rates are too high.
